No, they're not sleeping in cabins. They are sleeping in sleeping bags.....in tents.....in 40 degree weather. *whew* There are bugs and all kinds of critters in those woods. The lil scouts were already warned about the wild boar that live in the area.
Jen spent a fortune on camping gear for this overnight trip. But she did it without a blink of an eye. Jen is a single mother. Dalyn doesn't even know his father, the sperm donor. All he knows is his father isn't part of his life. He doesn't even ask questions....because his Mom works hard at being both "Mom" and "Dad". And she does a damn good job of it too, I might add.
Jen works hard at making sure Dalyn gets what other kids get. He sees the latest movies at the movie theaters, goes to all the birthday parties of friends and receives the coolest gifts at Christmas. She takes off work to bring him to parades and every summer they go on vacation.
This weekend was the Cub Scout Camp Out. A lot of firsts for Dalyn.
His first camp out. His first time to sleep in a tent. First time to go fishing. First time to cook his own meal over an open fire. There will be so many firsts this weekend!
I can't wait to hear all the stories and see all the pictures of their first camp out!
This past Tuesday hubs and I attended his Pack Meeting. We were asked to come and take pics of him receiving all his awards. Dalyn was part of the Color Guard, as you see below.
Dalyn was rewarded with 5 achievement awards, which go on his belt, and a bead towards his Bear. He's worked hard for all these awards. He was so proud!
Yes, I'm a proud Momma & MiMi. I'm proud of all 3 of my adult kids and 2 grandchildren. But this time I just had to express my feelings about Jen and Dalyn. Jen has come a long ways in life and I'm so very proud of every step she takes.
I still wish I was a fly buzzing around that campground right now.
:smiling:

2 Thoughts:
Any wild boars might avoid a 'group' of humans. The bugs in 40° night-time temperatures are likely no concern.
How terrific that Dalyn has a wonderful Mom. And his Scouting Awards are important. I bet Dalyn becomes an Eagle Scout.
Jan, you have every reason to be mighty proud of your family. And you deserve the best!
Good for Jen and for Dalyn!
